DRAUGHTS.
The Temuka draughts players, Married v. Single, again met “across the board ” on Tuesdaj evening. It had been arranged to play twelve men a side, but the bachelors were two short of that number, and, on drawing for partners, it fell to the lot of Messrs Nicholas and Bennett—two of the best players on the married side—to drop out. Mr Dunford acted as referee. There wss a capital attendance of spectators, who seemed to take a great interest in the game. Before parting it was agreed to try to arrange for a friendly match with the Timaru players at an early date . It was also decided that local matches be held on the first Tuesday of ; each month during the season. Those interested would do well to keep this in > mind.
