AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the abore Board was held last evening. Present —Messrs Lee (Chairman), Edgeler, Proudlock, and Story. MIHUTE3. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. COEBESPONDEWOB. A communication was received from the Commissioner of Crown Lands stating that the sum of £8 2a lOd was now in the hands of the Beceirer ol Land Revenue, and that a voucher for payment of same would:be forwarded to the Treasury Department as soon as the Board intimated upon what roads the money was to be expended.—lt was decided to expend the money on the continuation of Denmark street, and the Overseer was requested to forward an estimate of the work to the Crown Commissioner. TENDERS. Three tenders were received for contract No. 7, carting shingle. Two being alike, lots were drawn, and th§

tender of John Mulvahill was accepted, at 9d per yard. GEAYEL PIT. Mr Edgeler drew attention to the nnfenced gravel pit in Maude street, and suggested that the pit should be fenced and let. He offered to lease the same. Mr Proudlock moved —“ That the gravel reserve be fenced, and that Mr Bdgeler’s offer of 10s per annum for not less than 20 perches be accepted.” Mr Story seconded the motion and it was carried. EEPAIES. The Clerk was instructed to procure some spikes for repairs. EBSIEYEB. With regard to the occupiers of reserves who had not complied with the terms of their leases, it was resolved to notify them that unless the rents and clauses of the lease be complied with, legal proceedings will be taken to enforce the same. ILLEGAL PENCES. It was resolved that the Overseer ascertain the names of such persons who have illegally fenced in roads and reserves, and notify to them that unless the fences be removed within a specified time, the Board will remove the same without further notice, and endeavor to recover the cost of such removal from persons offending. THE BALANCE-SHEET. The consideraton of the balancesheet was held over until Wednesday, the 16th. lighting. r ' Mr Edgier moved, and Mr Proudlock seconded erected at the corner of High Street and Wilkin Street, and that the lamp at the corner of Denmark and Wilkin j Street be removed to the opposite side of the street.” —Carried.
