AUCTIONEERS' REPORT,

Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for tbe week ending Saturday, s*h May, 1888, 83 follows : At the Geraldiue monthly sale on Wednesday! the entry of stock was an average one, and prices realised were decidedly in favor of sellers as compared with the previoHs sales. The toialß yarded were 2218 sheep, 82 head of cattle, and 61 pigs, the major portion of which were sold as follows I

Sheep—Crossbred wethers, 4 and 6 tooth, in forward condition, 8s 6d ; wethers and maiden «wer, 4 and 6 tooth, snitab ! e for freezing, 9s 3:1; crossbrad ewes, 6a ]d; crosnbreds, 2 tooth, 5s lid to 7« 3d ; crossbred ewes, for breeding purpose*, 4s Id, 4s 6d, 6*, to 5s lid ; cull crossbred ewes, Is 3d to 2s 9d ; sound meripos, 2s 6d ; cu'l do, lOd. Leicester i-am o , \\ to 2 guineas each. Crossbred lambs, 3s 91 Cattle, —Fat cows, £3 10s; cows, springing and in profit, £4 15a to £5 7» 61 ; dry cows, £1 10a to £2 ; 2-. yea.-old srerrn. £1 10s ; yearlings, 15s to £l. Pigs.—Bacon sorts, £l9s to £2 ; strong stores, 10=i to 15s ; small, 5s to 6s. At Washdyke Yards, on,Thursday, there wis a large entry of sheep, and sales wero more in favor of sellers. Of oormntTy we sold 141 halfbred wethers, 3s lid ; 232 halfbred ewes, 3s 7d ; 50 me/ino wether*, 3s; 171 merino cull ewes, Is 6d.

The English wheat market is weak, and without quotable change, The. Continental market is firm, ami the American market shows an upward tonjency. Copper is steady. Chili bars £BO 53* Sugar is declining. Gorman beet is quoted at 13s.

May 3. Tin is still declining, and is now quoted at £BS.

Thirteen thousaud bales wer» sold at tocUy's wool auctions. Since the opening of the 6eries 320,000 bales havrt catalogued, and 20,000 bales were withdrawn. The third series will open m June 19th, and -sill be restricted to 350,000 bales. The fourth series will commence on 18th Spptember, and the fifth serins on the 27th November, Both the last-named series will be unlimited,

The quantity of tvheat afloat for the United Kingdom amounts to 2,000,128 quarters, and for the Continent 348,000 quarters, The American visible supp'y of wheat is 32,500,000 bushels.
