GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held in their office on Tuesday ev*mng last. Present - Messrs J. Mundel! (Chairman), J. Williams, and J. A. Quln. MINtfTES, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

fIOKRESPONDENOE. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. Inward was read and dealt with as follows: From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christcburcb, in reply to the - Board's letter asking for assistance m forming the roads to Geraldine Village Homestead Special Settlement. The Commissioner stated that the sum of £ls, the estimated cost of the work, would absorb about two years' rent derivable rftWff the sections, and under the circumr stances he could not recommend the work being done unless the Board or the residents found at least oae-half ,the amount. —lt was decided to urge the Commissioner to recommend that the sum of £lO be paid towards the work required, the Board beiDt; willing to supplement it. .. '": The Ranger's report for the month was laid upon the table. , OVERSEER'S REPORT.

The Overseer's report was read and dealt with as follows: ' " Gentlemen,—-I have the honor to state that during the past month no butface labor has been employed, and the strefits are in fair order and condition. The wtter-table in places would be better cleaned out, and the mouth, of the culverts cleared. Should the water-tables be filled with rain the culverts would be stopped up. The valuation list has been completed during the former part of January,'and open for inspection since the 15th ultimo. The advertisement has been inserted in accordance with the Act, giving notice that the list may be in- ' spected up to the 35th inat. It will be necessary to communicate with the Resident Magistrate with reference to holding an Assessment Court »t an early date. Moneys received during the month have been—Carriage licenses, £9 10a: Mundell and Co. 4 and 2 drivers, W. G. Sherratt 2 and 2 driven?, J. Rennia and B. Gibson 1 each ; rents, £lloa ; dog fees £2 12s, and paid into the Board's credit ; also £1 4s, refund from Court for the Domain Board, and paid in.—l am, stc, " C. E. Sherbatt."
