The monthly meeting of the Temuka Road Board was held on Tuesday last. Present—Messrs J. Talbot (Chairman), J. T. M. Hayhurst, and C. Bis«et.

MINUTES. ' , The minutes of the previous meeting were read aod confirmed.

IHE tOinXD YARD*.

The Chairman stated that Mr Gray had asked him for the use of the Pound on Friday, the 10th inst., for the purpose pi holding a sale therein, as his own yards were not strong enough.—lt was decided to allow Mr Gray the use of the pound on this occasion ; if the yards are wanted at any future time a fee to be charged. The subject of drafting stock in the pound was also discussed, and i* was de* a cided that this should not be allowed.

DRAINAGE,

Mr W. Palmer wrote, asking the Board to deepen the drain from the east corner of section No. 17937 to the west corner of the said section on the upper side of the road to drain section 14843 to the creek, near Bad ham's, and offering to pay half cost; also asking if th. 9 Board declioed to 'accede to the request to state their reasons-for so doiDg.—Mr Palmer waited on the Board in support of his request, and after hearing his statement the Boa.rd decided that they could not comply with the request, and advised Mr Palmer rot to interfere with the drain without their authority. Mr McGully attended and sidd he had noticed from the Temtha Lbadir Mi at they had decided to open Rhodes's creek by putting a culvert across Rolleston's road. If this was dooe it would cause him much damage. He suggested that the same purpose would be attained if the Board deepened the drain on the east side of Rolleston's road from Rhodes's '■ creek to tbo west end of the Canal drain,, and requested that, this should be done.— It was decided that some of the members should visit the place, and Mr McCnlly was informed that the work, at any rate,, would not be comme-nced until after harvest.
