Marriages Hake men thoughtful. About half their time Is spent in forming excuses. At a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council on Tueiday, Mayor Kennall resolutely refused to put amotion because it invoked the expenditure of money on private property. He totd the Councillors that they had wasted plenty of money illegally already on all kinds of tomfoolery, adding that the ratepayers had put him there to protect their funds, and he meant to do it* Councillors protested, and, declaring that they would not stand it, left the meeting, which was then formally adjourned by the Mayor. A majority of the Councillors, through the Clerk, are prosecuting the Mayor for laying water through the streets at his own expense, and now they threaten him with a mandamus to compel him to subnet their resolution
