EXTRAORDINARY TREATMENT OF A SHIPWRECKED CREW.

The Captain and second mate of the Cardiff steamer Trehorbert have been landed at Liverpool by the steamer IsU de Mindanao, anl gava particulars of the total wreck of their vessel and their extraordinary treatment at the hands of the Spanish people. The Treherbert, an iron screw steamer of 1620 tons, and in ballast, was going from Madeira to Bilbao. On the 7lh August, during a fog, she struck the rocks at Buitra Point, on the north of Spain. It was half-past i 1 o’clock in the morning, and goon afterwards several hundred Spaniards came lown from the mountains and crowded round the vessel. The Spanish coastguards, who wont on board, prevented any plundering for the time being; but as soon as the crew left the mountaineers set about taking whatever they could lay their bands ou. The shipwrecked people landed on the baacb. Their boats were taken from them by the anthorities, and there was no accommodation for the crew. By the payment of £5 the captain ebtained a boat, and in this the men set out to Uamerinas. They rowed all day and all night, and at last reached Camerinas, where the authorities kept them ou the beach with their effects, and would not allow them to taka advantage of the shelter offered to them by the representative of the Bri iah Consul. Camerinas is a fishing village, and the inhabitants took every opportunity of stealing their effects. At last the shipwrecked peopl# got leave to go to the shelter at first offered them, but by this time the purloining Spaniards had relieved them of a considerable part of their clothing. After this the shipwrecked people had to undertake another long journey before they reached Corunna. The Captain and the second mate were brought from there to Liverpool in the Isla de Mindanao, where the kind offices of the Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society were exercised.
