AUSTRALIAN CABLE.
Sydney, May 9. Arrived—Mararoa. May 10. The Eastern Extension Telegraph Company have submitted to the Australian Governmenis a proposal tor a guarantee of their annual revenue, based on the average of the past three years. For a period of thirteen years the tariff between England and Australia is to be four shillings a word, and the Company are to have a freedom from compensation. Cooktown, May 10. The expedition in the Victory to New Guinea has returned here. It proved a great success. Ttyo pew large rivers have been discovered, The party steamed up each to a distance of over a hundred miles. Five new native tribes were discovered.
