ASHBURTON MARKETS,

Mr E. G. Stavely (for New Zeaianl Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited ) reports on Ashburton sale, 10th instant.: About 3000 sheep penned, and small entries of other stock, no fat cattle being yarded. For sheep values were maintained, and a good demand was manifested for young crossbreds. Not many fat sheep brought forward, In fact, the inclement weather of the past day or two interfered materially with the en'ry. Fat mixed crossbreds made 6s and 7s, do do ewes 4s 6d and 5s 4d, ordinary crossbred ewes 2s 3d and 3s Id, forward merino wethers 2s Bd, small crossbred lambs Is 6d, 4-tooth crossbreds in forward condition 6s lid, aged merino ewes Is Id, 2-tooth mixed crossbreds 3s 4d, 2 and 4-toolh do 5s 4d, 4 and 6-tooth crossbred ewes (in lamb) 6s. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, May 10. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat, 4s to 4s Id, firm and active demand ; barley 4s 6d to 5s 6d, firm ; oats, feed sorts, 2s9d to 2s lOd, slightly improved tendency; oats, milling sorts, 2s lOd to 2s lid, steady ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s to 2s 2d.
