AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adam re* port for the fortnight ending Saturday is follows; Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar to-day our , entry comprised 2# head, principally consisting of medium draughts and inferior hacks. Amongst the draughts were 4 useful mares, belonging to Mr John Barclay, competition for which, however, did not come up to owner’s expectation. The demand still continues good for sound young horses, suitable for the farm, either broken or unbroken, and for these we anticipate a>further improvement in values in the immediate future. We quote medium to good draughts, £ls 10s to £25; inferior, £8 10s te £l2 10s, Hacks : Any good sorts, with youth on their side, possessing bone, substance-,’ and a fair amount of symmetry «l ways command attention. Sales to-day were up to £ll. Sheep—At the Washdyke o.i Thursday, there was again a small entry of prime mutton, and butchers’ requirements were barely satisfied. We sold on account of Mr Thomas Mitchell, 60 prime quarter* bred wethers at 13s 9d ; ou Recount of Mr D. Scott, 78 crossbred wethers at 10s lid ; and privately 370 crossbred wethers for freezing. Also, 348 crossbred 1 wether* and 257 crossbred hoggets. 1

Cattle—At the Wasbdyke on Thursday only u few bead of and cows put- in an appearance. We sold 8 head at from 25a to £4 17s 6d.

- DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wedneiday the following business waS transacted : Fat Oatcle—The supply to-day was moderate, consisting of 178 head cattle, half of which were good to prime, but the balance only medium. Best quality brought fully last week’s prices. Inferior and medium all moved at full rates. Best bullocks l brought £9 10s to £lll7a 6d ; 1 medium, £7 to £9; ordinal,' £5 5s to £6 15s ; and cows in proportion.—Donald Reid and Go. sold for Mr Andrew Grant (Temukii), 6 prime bullocks at £ll 2s 6d. Fat Sheep—3lß4 to hand. Of this number 550 were merino wethers, good ' to prime : the balance crossbreds, twothirds of which were excellent quality and very heavy weights, Values declined. Best crossbred wethers brought 13s to 15s —a few pens extra heavy, 17b ; medium to good,-9s to!2a 9J. Crossbred ewes—best, 12s 3d to 14a 9d'; ordinajy to good, 7a to lie 6d ; merino wethers, 4s 6d to 10s.—Mr L, Maclean sold for Mr M. Studholme (Waimate Estate), 120 halfbred wethers at from 13s 3d to 13s 6d.

Pigs - Only 68 penned, Marly all porkers and baconers, for which there was active demand. Bidding wabspirited, and an advance of £d per lb iover late rates was obtained.—Mr L. J Maclean sold 27 for Mr Jus, M'Donald (Wash dyke), at from 33s to 395. Horses—Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report:—The market continues dull. A very meagrs supply dame for* ward for last Saturday's :sale, and little business was done. We quote- ;ficst*olsM draughts at from £2O to £35; medium, £lO to £ls ; good saddle and jight bar* ness horses, £l2 to £18 ; light, £t te £10; light and weedy, £llos Id £5. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Kidney, Sept. 10. New Zealand wheat is at 4a $d per bushel, an advanced of Id ; New Zealand oats, unaltered, 2s 6d ; mains, sslbf, has advance sd, and is now Sa 4d, Potatoes and pollard are unchanged. Adblaxdb, Sept 19.

Shipping wheat is steady at 5s Id to 5s 2d per bushel. Adelaide town flour, £ll 10s to £ll 12s 6d per ton; country brands, £lO 12s 6d to £lO 15s.

Messrs Ireland, Fraser, and Co., of Mauritius, under date August 20th, report as follows on the sugar market The tone of the market is qujet. The clearances tor Christchurch for the mouth amount to 310 tons, to Dunedin 710 tons. It that crushing will shortly commence, and- is estimated to yield from 105,000’ tbnß to 110,000 tons. Exchange; 60 days; bank credit on New Zealand, 45 per cent* The stock of sugar in baud amounts to 6000 tons. !

ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Sept. 8. At the colonial wool auctions to-day 11,000 bales were offered; The market continues firm, with an active demand. Greasy wools generally are about Id higher than the closing rates of last eales. Scoured wools are from 2d to 3d higher. Fine greasy crossbreds are higher, and coarse crossbreds Id higher.
