GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Wednesday evening in the Schoolroom. Present—Messrs jN. Dunlop (Chairman), J. Cunningham, R S. Cook, G. Ward, and C. E.Sherratt. Apologies were received from Messrs Farrell and Shiers for non-attendance through indisposition. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read From the Board of Education, stating that they had received the resignation < f Mr T, Hughes as head master, and had advertised for applications to fill th▼acancy. SPECIFICATIONS FOR REPAIRS. The Chairman informed the Committee that he had he'd over for the present the sanding of the specifications to the Board of the; repairs etc., required at the school. HEAD MASTER’S REPORT. The Head Master’s report wsa read ard showed the attendance for the past bur weeks to have Been 189. The Committee decided to do what they could for Mr Htghea’ interests. TESTIMONIAL. It was decided that a testimonial ns to the Hoad Master’s abilities should be drawn up. HEAD MASTERSHIP. A letter was read from the Board of Education enclosing the Inspector’s classification and report upon the candidates for the appointment of Head Master. The letter also slated that -Mr G. H. Turnbull would act as locum tenem upon Mr Hughes leaving the school, till the new master was appointed. - Twenty applications had been received for the appointment, and the Committee decided to consider them at a meeting to be held on August 23rd. FINANCE. Accounts to the amount of £2 19s 6d were passed for payment. The sum of 28s was received from the Head Mistress as the proceeds of the girls’ sewing. It was resolved to place the amount to the Committee’s credit in the Bank of Hew Zealand. VISITORS, Mr Cook, a* one of the visitors to the School for the past month, reported having visited it on the 26th inst., and finding everything in good working order. The teachers were all at their posts, and the attendance that day 206. The Chairman, Messrs C. E. Sherratt, and G. Ward were appointed Visitors for the ensuing month, and the meeting then adjourned till the date above mentioned, August 23.
