A meeting of this Committee was held In the schoolroom on Wednesday evening. Present Messrs Dunlop (Chairman), Sbiers, Cook, G. E. Sberratt, Cunningham, and Ward. An apology was received from Mr T. Farrell for not being present. MINUTES. The minutes of the meetings held before and after the meeting of householders were read and confirmed. NEW CLASS-ROOM. The Committee inspected the new class-room, and expressed themselves much satisfied with it. SUGGESTION. The master laid upon the table the draft of a form registering tho quarterly attendance .-nd alto the progress of each child. Ha thought this would be a good thing for both parents and children to have, as it would prove a stimulus to the scholars during the year. Twelve months proved tod long for tho children to sustain an interest in the examination. The Committee expressed themselves pleased with the foim of register as submitted by the Head Master, and were decidedly of opinion that it would be the fairest basis upon which to award the prizes, as many children were too nervous to undergo an examination. The parents would see the progress the scholars were making, and would thus be induced to send them regularly to school. It was moved by MrSherratt, seconded by Mr Ward, and carried unanimously—- “ That it be left to the Chairman and Head Master to get a thousand printed ; that they be signed by the Head Master and the Chairman of the Committee, and that they be the basis upon which the prizes be awarded at the end of the year." HEAD MASTER’S RETORT. The Master’s report for the month showed the average attendance for the past four weeks to be 190. It also stated that a supply of fuel was required ; that two or three trifling repairs were necessary, and mentioned a few articles of stationery required for school purposes. He also enquired whether the school was to bo closed on any portion of the race days. It was decided to for call tenders for the supply of fuel at par cord for black pine wood, and at per ton for coal; the Head Master was authorised to obtain the necessary stationery ; the panes of glass asked for to be attended to by the Chairman ; and it was decided to close the school on Friday afternoon. visitors’ report. The report from the visitors was received. It stated that that they had visited the school during the month, and found everything working satisfactorily. They advised that the big stones in the school yard should be raked up, and ten loads of fine shingle obtained and stacked in the yard. Some provision should also be made to carry off the storm water from the north side of the school buildings. The yard at the Master’s house also required shingling, and several small repairs to the school property were needed. The repairs suggested were left till the next meeting,, when Mr Sbiers promised to bring up an estimate of the probabie cost. MISCELLANEOUS.
