Evans moved—That the regulations contained in Table A in the schedule of the Companies Act, 1882, shall apply to this Company.” In moving the resolution Mr Evans said he held it was advisable that the whole of the Act should apply to the Company. Under present conditions a Director might buy or sell grain to the Compnny on commission, which ho thought most undesirable, os the Manager would be placed in a false position. He moved the resolution in the interests of the Company, not through any bad feeling to the Directors. Mr James Bruce seconded the motion. The Chairman, Mr Moss Jonas, Mr T. W. Hall, and others spoke against the motion, end after a long and acumonious discussion it w*s put to the meeting and lost by 4 to 16. Tha rsxt business taken was a proposal to change the name of the Company to the Timaru Milling Company. The Chairman spoke in favor of the change, stating that it was rumored that Mr Bruce was about to start another mill, and this the Directors thought would ead *o complications, ss the correspondence might clash and the produce of the two mills be mixed. The concert was opened with an overture on the piano by Mi?s Foster, who also accompanied the various singers in a most efficient manner, A song was then given by Mr Lodge, who was in good voice, This wnij followed by a quartette by Miss Andrews, Mrs Glass, and two gentlemen, which was encored, and the last verse was repeated. Miss Andrews, who came next with a solo, also received a well-merited encore, and Mrs Glass gave a song very nicely indeed. A gentleman then gave a song, which was muob appreciated, and the Mieses Bradley, Leary and Beattie, three of the school children, then rendered “ Under the willews she’s Weeping ” rery well indeed, considering the school children bare only lately had instruction in singing. This concluded the first part of the programme, and after an interval of ten minutes the Geraldine Amateur Christy Minstrels came upon the platform: Mr Logan as Mr Johnstone (centre man), Mr Kruse as Bones, with Mr Porteus as Pompey, The performance of Mr Johnstone and Bonos wav highly appreciated by tha audience, who wore kept in roars of laughter for fully an hour and a-half. Mr Logan followed with a song in grand style, for which he was encored, and a laughable farce, which created much fun, brought the programe to a close. The Chairman, in proposing a vote of thanks to the performers, and especially to Miss Foster, the accompanist, wac able to state that there would be a net sum of £7 to hand over to Mr Walker,, After this rote had been carrieOy acclamation a similar one was pasted to jw Chairman, and the proceedings with the singing of the first veijse of Save the Queen.” Tha room was for dancing, which was kept great spirit till about 4 i’clock morning.
