AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMAKU. Messrs Jonas and Bourn report for the week ending Saturday na follows : The want of rain throughout the district is being severely felt, and more especially by the holders of stock ; fodder is very scarce, and the effects of is has been particularly noticeable upon the price of sheep. j Pleasant Point.—They held their regular monthly sale at this place on tho 4th inst. There was a good: number of stock yarded, the majority of which found purchasers. The following are the prices obtained . —Sheep, 128 crossbred hoggets, at 7s 61 ; 28 wethers, nearly fat, at 7sld ; 214 ewes and lambs at 7s 9d ; 196 crossbred hoggets at 8s : 75 crossbred ewes and wethers at 6s 61 ; 190 crossbred hoggets at 5s 6d : 460 merino ewes (poor) at Is 6d ; 250 crossbred hoggets at 7s 6d; 35 enes and wethers (fatf, at 7s 4d ; 58 crossbred ewes (fat) ft 6s 9d ; 45 crossbred hoggets,' 8s 9d ; 505 ewes and lambs (all combed), 3s 3cl ; 167 merino ewes (poor) at Is 6d ;> 54 lambs at 2s. Catt'e—s yearlings at 15s; 17 steers and heifers, 18 months old, at 32s ; 5 steers, nearly fat, at £5 7s 6d ; 4 steers and heifers, at £4 15s ; 4: steers and heifers at £6 ss; 6 heifers, at £4 10s ; milch cows, £3 15s to £6 2s 6d. The sale was well attended, and the prices obtained will compare very favorably with recent quotations,taking into consideration the condition and quality of the stock. ,

Horses.—The horse market is particularly dull, very few good sorts coming forward, arid inferior and weedy sorts may be said to be quite unsaleable. The entry to-day was not a large one, and none were of a saleable class. A few good draught horses would find purchasers at quotations. r J hey quote staunch heavy draughts from £i6 to £25 , medium do from £8 to £17 1! backs and light harness horses from £4 to £l6, according to stamp and quality. TIMARU MARKETS. Mr William Evans reports that the grain market is still dull. Quotations , Milling wheat, 3s to 3s 6d ; fowl wheat, none in market; short oats, Is 81 to Is lOd; Danish and Tartar, Is 5d to Is 8d ; (bags, 6d); bran and sharps, 90s per ton, all f.o.b. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Jan. 8, To-day’s produce market is only noticeable for a few alterations in values. They are—an advance of one penny per 561bs for maize, and a decline of 4d per bushel for New Zealand oats. To-day’s quotations are ;—New Zealand wheat, 3s fid per bushel ; New Zealand oats, 2s ; Sugar Company’s No. 1 pieces, L 26 per ton. Adelaide, Jan. 9. The produce market remains dull. Shipping wheat is quoted at 4s Id to 4s ‘2d ; town flour, L 9 to L 9 5s ; country brands, L 8 10s to L 8 ISs.c^roi.
