Allegro Pebjubt.—At the R. M. Court. Timaru, on Tuesday, a young woman named Annie Gardner was charged in remard with perjury. It was alleged that the girl hid perjured herself whilst giving evidence a week or two ago against a young man named Bloomfield in an affiliation case. After hearing the evidence of a number of witnesses fie girl was acquitted. Scott, who has just returned from a visit to England, stated (he other night at the meeting of the Christchurch Industrial Association that while at Home he bad paid a visit of some six days to the Inventions Exhibition in London, and, after being at the Exhibition at Wellington, ha was quite of opinion that, in some respects at least, the colonial products would bear favorable comparison with those there displayed.— Press. It may be mentioned that to-morrow he visits Rangitata, addressing the ohddren directly the school closes. A mothers’ meeting will fellow; and in the evening a mass meeting will be held in the eehoolhouse, when Mr Burnett will take his farewell of Bouth Canterbury. Wklookk Rbtbbat Lodgb, 1.0.G.T. The usual monthly open meeting of the above Lodge was held in the Temperance Hall, Geraldine, on Monday evening. There was a good attendance, and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. A capital programme was gone through, consisting of songs and readings, the following members of the Lodge taking part therein :—Sisters Maslin, Kirby, Andrews, and Buckley, and Bros. C, E. Sherratt, T. bherratt, and H. R. Pratt. Ib* Rev. H. Clark delivered an instructive and interesting address on Temperance, which was listened to with pleasure by all. Refreshments were handed round during the evening, provided by the Lodge. The Lodge was closed in the uual form, everyone having enjoyed the social evening very much, Canterbury Farmers' Association, Limited.—The annual meeting of the shareholders of this Association takes place on the 14th November next, when the election of directors for the emuing year in the place of those retiring by rot a'ion takes place.
