GERALDINE PUBLIC SCHOOL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of the above was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. Present—Messrs Dunlop, Farrell, Cunningham and G. Ward. Mr Pearpoint was excused attendance owing to illness, and Mr Cunningham was voted to the chair. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were raad and confirmed. COKRESPOKDENCB. From the same, requesting information in regard to the property of the Board in the district. — It was decided to hold over the letter for the Chairman to deal with. From Mr Temperton, Timaru, offering to supply books suitable for prizes at considerable reduction on sale prices. On the [imposition of Mr Duulop, seconded by Mr lAme'll, the matter was held over for discussion at a fuller meeting of the Committee.

From the National Insurance Company, advising that the premium on the insurance policy of the school buildings would shortly fall due.—Proposed by Mr Dunlop, seconded by Mr Farrell, and carried—" That the premium be paid when due." ACCOUNTS. An account of Messrs N. Dunlop and Co., amounting to £1 3s 6d, haring been certified by the head master, was passed for payment. VISITING COMMITTEE. Meßsrs Cunningham and C. R Sherratt were reappointed visitors to the school for the ensuing month. HEAD MASTER'S REPORT. The head master's report for th» past month was read. It stated that the average attendance for the four weeks was 170. He also asked for instructions re holidays on the race days.—Proposed by Mr Ward, seconded by Mr Farrell, and carried—" That the school close at 11 a,m. to-morroif (Thursday) and remain closed on the following day." MISCILLAHBOUS. Proposed by Mr Farrell, seconded by Mr Ward, and carried—" That a sabCommittee be appointed to get the school and master's residence fence! thoroughly repaired." , Mr Logan had an interview with thi Committee, requesting the use of one of tho schoolrooms on the following day for a p'enic party, should the day prove wet.—After a short discussion it was ! decided that the party in question should have the use of one room on the day stated on payment of lOs (for cleaning of the same) to Mrs Stonehouse. The room to be vacated at 10 p.m. There being no further business for transaction, the meeting terminated.
