TEMUKA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka School Committee took place on Tuesday evening last. Present Messrs Gray (Uhairman), Blyth and Miles. minutes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence outwards and inwards was read. The latter included the following:— From the Board of Education, notifying that £fl 6s had been placed to the credit of the Committee at the Bank of New Zealand, on account of teachers’ salaries and travelling expanses of pupil teachers to Timaru for examination. From the same, notifying that £ls 16s lOd had been placed to the credit of the Committee for incidentals for the thiid quarter. . From the head master, drawing the attention of the Committee to the fact that as the pupil teachers have all passed their examination, they are entitled to an increase of salary, amounting to £lO per annum, with the exception of one who will not reach the required age till September next.

HEAD master’s REPORT. The head master reported as follows ; —Number on roll : Boys, 199 ; 148; total, 347- Strict average attendance: Boys, 148; girls, 105; total, 253 Working average attendance : Boys, 153 ; girls, 110 ; total, 263. Highest attendance : Boys, 164; girls, 125 ; total, 289. The report drew attention to the fact that a pane of glass had been broken- and wanted replacing, and suggested that the bell should be hung as soon as. possible. —The Secretary was instructed to have the pane of glass put in. The Chairman and Mr Birth were appointed to have the bell fixed, and also arrange for having the ground levelled were the trees here planted. gravelling and planting. The Secretary wea instructed to forward to the Board of Education, Mr Dnnn’s account for gravelling, etc., and Mr Wheelband’s accosnt for planting, with a request that the amounts be forwarded to the Committee at their earliest convenience. MISCELLANEOUS. The Chairman was to arrange about school requisites. Accounts amounting to £l4 3s were passed for payment. Messrs Gray and Blyth were appointed visitors for the month, and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
