PRESBYTERIAN SABBATH SCHOOL.

• In connection with the above, the half yearly distribution of prizes took place in the Church at 2.30 pm. last Sunday. The Church was crowded by children and parents, members, adherents and sympathisers. After singing several hymn is, and engaging in prayer the, Rev. D. Gordon gave the teachers and scholars an earnest exhortation, commenting on the work, done and the futuie benefits to be derived from the advantages of early- religious training. The gaze of the children being concentrated on the pile of gilt-edged volumes piled against the pulpit, the rev. gentleman began to distribute the prizes to the delighted winners, accompanying each prize with a few appropriate and complimentary remarks, ably assisted by the superintendent, Mr Wood, to which energy and discipline the Sabbath School owes its present efficiency. All the children not receiving prizes were presented with cards and mottoes of chaste design with Scripture texts and illustrations by the superintendent, all appearing thoroughly satisfied. A collection was taken hp for next prize day which realised a handsome sum. After singing and prayer the meeting dispersed. The following is the prize list
