Seven Irishmen, recently arrested in Glasgow, charged with complicity in blowing up the gasometer in that city in January last, have been committed for trial.

The Temps in its issue to-day announces that the British Government has agreed to mediate between France and China for the settlement of the difficulty in Tonquin. The directors of the Suez Canal Company have decided to introduce from the Ist January, 1884, some modifications of the existing regulations under which the traffic through the Canal is conducted. Among other things the company decided to reduce the dues payable by vessels in ballast, and to undertake the charges ot floating chips that may become stranded in passing through the Canal.
