THRILLING RESCUES
BATHERS IN TROUBLE IN SURF. HEAVY SEAS AT SYDNEY BEACHES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Dec. 22. Sensational rescues were affected in heavy seas off Sydney beaches yesterday. At Bronte a man, whom life-savers were bringing ashore, collapsed and died in the surf. At Curl Curl life-savers did not wait to put costumes on, but donned the lifebelts naked when a one-armed youth was carried 400 yards out. Of seven life-savers who went to the rescue of the crew of a capsized surf boat a quarter of a mile off only three succeeded in getting past the barrier.
