CONCERT AT KORITO
END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. The end-of-the-ycar concert of the Korito school was held in the hall on Thursday evening, the weather fortunately clearing in time to avoid postponement. Almost every family in the district was represented. Every child received a gift. Mr. B. Herbert, chairman of the school committee, presided. The following programme was given:— Comic recitation, Connie Herbert; acrobatic acts, Wray Miller; pianoforte solo, Betty Weston; folk dance, infants; recitation, Doreen May; play, “The Three Bears,” Rae Hine, Wray Miller, Eva May and Tom Herbert; song and chorus, Myra Smith and Wilfred Wood.waxd; recitation, Mabel Neilson, Rae Hine, Betty Baker and Eva May; tap dancing, Patsy Miller; song, Jean Herbert and Wray' Miller; community singing; song, Jean Hine, Betty Weston and Iris Herbert; recitation, Hugh Peters; folk dance, senior pupils; . recitation, Jean Hine; song, senior boys; play, “Friday Afternoon Compositions”; good-night chorus, pupils. Mr. Herbert extended good wishes to the children on behalf of Miss Lewis, their teacher, who was ill. Cheers were given Miss Lewis. Mr. A. Hugget presented the attendance certificates to Iris and Jean Herbert, Betty Weston, James Herbert, Doreen and Eva May. Iris Herbert also received a special certificate for unbroken attendance of six years at the school. Santa Claus arrived amid applause, to distribute gifts from the Christinas tree. Many parents also received gifts their children had made during school hours. The good work of Miss Lilley, relieving teacher, in training the pupils for the concert at short notice was acknowledged. . After supper there was dancing to music contributed by Mesdames Weston and E. Herbert, Misses W. Snell and P. Keast and Mr. A. Orchard. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss Mavis Keast and Mr. T. Snell and .Miss Wray Miller and Master T. Herbert. Messrs. R. Weston and J. Martin were . masters of ceremonies. Personal Items. Misses N. Kemp and D. Weston have arrived home for the holidays. Miss Joyce Herbert is spending a few ■weeks at Tikorangi. Miss Lilley, who has been relieving
teacher at Korito, has returned to her ■home. . ' . ‘ ’ ,Miss Betty Weston’s calf won in group 4 competition for type and condition.
