SERIOUS CHARGES

COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE. TAWHITI MAN PLEADS GUILTY. Harry James Woodhead, Tawhiti, appeared before. Mr; W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Hawera Police Court yesterday to answer a charge of incest and three charges of indecent assault on his four daughters, whose ages varied from 9 to 17 years. After the evidence was taken Woodhead pleaded. guilty and was committed to the Wanganui Supreme Court for sentence. The police case was conducted by Detective A. Jenvey, New Plymouth. Woodhead was not represented by counsel. The charge of incest alleged the offence occurred on June 6, 1935. * The offences of indecent assault was alleged to have occurred on December 11, 1933, December 15, 1934, and January !, 1935.
