CHANGE OF RACING DATE

STRATFORD SECOND DAY Though the postponement of the second day’s racing of the last New Year meeting of the Stratford Racing Club from Wednesday, January 2, to Saturday, January 4, was caused by wet weather, the success that attended the change, despite the postponement, has caused the club to select the Saturday for the second day of the 1936 New Year meeting. In the past the days have been January 1 and 2 for the New Year meeting except in a case of unusual circumstances like the last meeting, so that the selection of Wednesday, January 1, for the first day and Saturday, January 4, for the second day of the 1936 meeting is a new departure. Special train arrangements have been made so that horses can. be taken away in any direction after the Saturday racing. There will therefore be no need for horses to be kept at Stratford over the week-end. Deferring the second day till Saturday wiU also enable Auckland horses and riders to compete on the Saturday. Free stable accommodation will be available, as has been the case at Stratford for years. . The Stratford Cup Handicap of £350 plus a gold cup valued at £5O, which used to be on the first day’s programme, has been changed to the second day.
