AUCKLAND PACERS DEPARTURE FOR ADDINGTON. PROMINENT SHOWING EXPECTED. (By Telegraph—Special to Daily News.) ■ Auckland, Last. : The Takanini horses Worthy Light, Nell Volo and King’s Warrior left tonight for the south to fulfil their Addington engagements.' They. were.in the care of J. Stewart and another of Smith’s assistants.. Owing to the wet weather since the Auckland spring meeting the ■ horses, have not had the sound final track work that F. J. Smith had-hoped to give them. The New Zealand Trotting Cup candidate, Worthy.. Light, was on'the robust side last month but the two races at Epsom proved beneficial and, if he is not quite attuned for .'the cup, he should race with improvement in later engagements. Unfortunately Nell Volo struck herself on the eve of the Auckland meeting and contracted a knee which kept her from racing. She.has made a good recovery from the trouble but has not been given any very serious tasks. Nell Volo has never looked better and she was going great guns at the time of her misfortune. _ King’s Warrior, who is to race on the second and third days, took no hurt from his fall at the. Auckland meeting. He is a fine pacer in his class and being in excellent racing condition will have a chance of showing his prowess at Ad-' dington. r War Paint was to have gone south also but it was eventually decided to keep her at home in view of suitable races at the Auckland summer meeting. Smith will leave to-morrow night for the south. NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK. LADY KYRA’S GOOD EFFORT PREPARING FOR TE RAPA With a good contingent likely to compete at the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting at Te Rapa next week training operations at New Plymouth are becoming interesting. There were some good gallops yesterday morning. All the fast work was done on the trial grass, which was heavy after the recent rains. Whoa Johnnie showed plenty of pace to lead Red Fox most of the way over six furlongs, but he tired in the straight and there was little between the pair at the end. The last five furlongs occupied lm 9s. Red Fox finished solidly. Davistock and Aussie Ra did two rounds at an easy half pace on the inr side grass. They appear to be in good order after their efforts at Bulls. Davistock is not engaged at Te Rapa .but Aussie Ra will probably make the trip. Glenvane and Bonny Glow shaped well over half a mile in 53js, both hitting out freely. Bonny Glow’s race at Waverley as done her a lot of good and she put more dash into her work than formerly. Hinky Pinky finished a round of easy pace work by running the last three furlongs in a little better than threequarter pace. It was originally intended to race her at Levin and Feilding' but it has now been decided' to reserve her for the Taranaki holiday circuit at Christmas and New Year. Lady Kyra was responsible for an at-, tractive effort when she beat Chikara decisively over five furlongs in. the good time of lm 41s. Considering the heavy condition of the track this was a smart gallop. Lady Kyra'has obviously benefited by her race at Waverley and her Te Rapa prospects look bright. The track conditions did not suit Chikara. Most of the other horses were restricted to steady work. R. Barlow will probably make the trip to Te Rapa with Refresher, Tahurangi and Headmistress. MARABOU’S STABLEMATE FERSEN AT MELBOURNE Prior to being purchased by Mrs. Graham,® Fersen was a stablemate of Marabou, who won the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday. Both were trained by L. Robertson, who prepared Marabou for the big Flemington race. It will be a great day for New Plymouth to-morrow if Fersen follows the good example of his former stable companion and wins New Zealand’s big two miles event at Riccarton. ■i i .
