CONSPIRACY CHARGE
TWO MEN CONVICTED AT SYDNEY. DECISION AT SECOND TRIAL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Sydney, Nov. 7. The second trial of Thomas Croft and Kenneth O’Connell on a. charge of conspiracy to steal £690 from John Wilson was concluded yesterday, when the jury returned a verdict of guilty. Croft was sentenced to four years* hard labour and O’Connell to three years’ hard labour. The first trial was stopped when it was revealed that a member of the jury had a criminal record, having been convicted 15 times.
It was alleged that when Wilson came out of a bank pepper was thrown in his eyes, allowing a thief to escape with the money he had just drawn out.
