BIG WRESTLING MATCH.

CESTOLDI AND JOHNNY WOODS.

Sporting writers throughout the Dominion speak in very high praise of the physique of the newest arrival to join up with the New Zealand Wrestling Union. Johnny Woods seems to impress them with his personality and ability and the union officials were well advised when they intercepted him on his way back to California and induced him to appear in the Dominion. They matched him against the unbeaten Earl McCready at Wellington last Monday night. Woods, who is only 24 years old, has already had about 290 bouts and he is considered to be the most promising of the American wrestlers. Beginning his career in the University of California, he soon became an inter-collegiate champion. He intends to climb to the top of the tree. The contest between him and Angelo Cestoldi to-morrow at New Plymouth should provide the most thrilling bout seen there for some time. Both men are evenly matched as far as weight Is concerned, each turning the scale at 16 stone. Woods stands six feet in height and he has perhaps a little advantage over Cestoldi in this respect, although the latter will no doubt make up the little leeway by his very aggressive attitude in the ring. The match will no doubt be wrestled at a very high speed and will be full of tense moments. Several interesting amateur bouts will be staged before the Cestoldi-Woods match. The box plan is open at Chum Roberts’, Devon Street. New Plymouth. The usual 1 prices arc being charged.
