WESTERN PARK BOARD
DIFFICULTY OF MAINTENANCE. The difficulty the Western Park Board had in maintaining the park at its present standard with the present amount of finance was stressed by members at a meeting last night, after the chairman, Mr. F. Hartnell, had pointed out the need for more labour. Those present were. Messrs. F. Hartnell (chairman), J. Lobb, M. J. Marsh, R. J. Deare, T. McPhillips and F. J. Hill (secretary). A problem that would have to be faced would be the keeping of the park in good order, said the chairman. Many improvements had been made and it would be a pity to allow the park to go back. However, the amount of labour that could be used by the board was limited by the finance. The procuring of additional labour, was left to Messrs. Hill and McPhillipS. The action of Messrs. Hartnell and Hill in granting the New Plymouth Cycle and Athletic League the use of the spoftsground for the months of January, February and March on the same terms as last year was approved.
