BUDGET ARGUMENT
GRAVE STRUGGLE IN FRANCE. M. LAVAL SEEKING ECONOMIES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. x Paris, Oct. 30. The Finance Committee tore M. Pierre Laval’s economy programme to shreds and passed amendments to the Budget, reducing savings by at least 50 per cent. They agreed to special exemptions for small taxpayers and the abandonment of certain war pension and other cuts, which will cost the Government at least £40,000,000. M. Laval intends to contest the amendments in Parliament and a grave struggle is expected in the next few weeks.
