BACK LOOP SLAM USED AGAIN. CHALLENGE OF VENTER FAILS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. George Walker beat Peter Venter, South Africa, to-night in a professional wrestling bout billed as being for the championship of the British Empire, which Walker claims to hold. Venter secured the first fall in the second round, but Walker equalised in the fourth round with a back loop slam and finished the match within a few seconds of the opening of the next round with a body press. The attendance was poor. Walker's weight was declared at 15st. 51b. and Venter’s at 14st. 81b. McCready beats jagat singh. APPRECIATION OF AUDIENCE. Gisborne, Last Night. Before a crowded house this evening Earl McCready, 16st. 111 b. (Canada) beat Singh, 16st. 91b. (India) by one fall. The contest was even throughout b”' in the sixth round McCready scored with his octopus deathlock. The bout vas one of the best seen here and the audience was appreciative.
