CONTRACT SYSTEM
OBJECTIONS AT GREYMOUTH. MEN STOP WORK BUT RESUME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. As a result of the refusal of men to accept the Public Works Department's co-operative contract system work on the Greymouth aerodrome ceased this morning, about 40 men being affected. Objections were taken to conditions and rates of payment. Representations on behalf of the men were made to the Unemployment Board. The men met in the afternoon and decided to resume work. They will give the contract rates a month’s trial.
