NEW MEAT SHIPS
RESULT OF CHILLED MEAT TRADE. LAUNCHING OF DUNEDIN STAR. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 29. The, Blue Star steel built Dieselengined cargo steamer Dunedin Star, of 10,000 tons and 522 feet long, was launched at Cammell Laird’s yards at Birkenhead to-day. The building of the Dunedin Star’s sister ship has already begun.
Sir Edmund Vestey at the launching pointed out that the Government Research Department’s discovery of the method of shipping chilled meat from New Zealand and Australia called for the building of £5,000,000 worth of steamers.
