URENUI SCHOOL JUBILEE
GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. A well attended meeting was held in the Urenui library recently to make arrangements for the Urenui school jubilee next March, the following committees were formed to collect data of old pupils: From 1876 to 1900, Messrs. W. H. Fuller, G. N. Fuller, P. S. Elliot, H. Willison and A. H. Halcombe; 1900 to 1935, Mrs. S. A. Managh, Messrs. L. Rattenbury, H. L. Taylor, G. R. Pigott and E. S. Elliot. Mrs. L. Rattenbury and Mr. L. Burke were appointed secretaries and Mr. C. W. Henwood was elected chairman. > 1 The Urenui Tennis Club’s opening last Saturday had to be postponed because of rain. A flag five hundred evening was held by the Urenui Bowling Club on Wednesday, when the winning table comprised Messrs. C. H. Wilson, T. H. Lee, W. H. Fuller and F. D. Des Forges. Several good catches of whitebait were made during the latter part of last week in the Mimi River. It was the first good run the fish have made in the river this season. Mrs. C. A. Rumball, Urenui, who has been ill for some time, was taken to the New Plymouth hospital last week. , Mrs. W. Smith, Inglewood, was the guest of Mrs. C. D. Smith at the weekend. Mr. A. Vaughan has returned from a visit to Russell. Mrs. L. G. Newton, who has been in the New Plymouth hospital, has returned home. Mr. Managh, Halcombe, who has been the guest of his son, Mr. S. A. Managh, has returned home. The Urenui branch of the New Plymouth Plunket Society acknowledges the following donations: Mesdames D. L. Tate, E. S. Elliot, P. Darke, R. Ekdahl, A. Gibson, A. Strachan and C. Drader, 5s each.
