BUILDING ACTIVITY
INVESTMENT IN GREAT BRITAIN. GREAT SPREAD OF EMPLOYMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 28. After attending the Empire Parliamentary Association’s conferenc at London the Hon. Mark Fagan and Mr. Peter Fraser, M.P., returned by the Monowai. Mr. Fraser would not comment on his experiences abroad. Mr. Fagan commented that there was a great building boom in Britain. England virtually was in the process of being rebuilt, consequently there was a spread of employment. “The unspent income or savings of the people of Britain amount roughly to £250,0u0,000 a year,” he said. “A large proportion of this wealth, formerly lent to other countries, is now being invested in the building industry. Unemployment figures show a decrease of nearly 1,000,000 in the last two years, and the building boom is responsible for at least 80 per cent, of this improvement.”
