CAR FALLS 100 FEET
ACCIDENT NEAR TAUMARUNUI.
WOMEN PASSENGERS INJURED.
(By Telegraph—Special to Daily News.) Taumarunui, Last Night.
A serious accident happened on Saturday afternoon near the Hikumutu School, 10 miles from' Taumarunui, when a car driven by Miss Joy Tompkins skidded on a wet road and went over a bank 110 feet high. The other, occupants of the car were Miss Haylock, Taumarunui, Miss R. Tompkins, Taumarunui, Miss M. Brown, Bowling Street, Auckland, and Mr. J. Fitall, school teacher, Taringamotu. The car was owned by Mr. Fitall and was extensively damaged. The occupants were brought to Taumarunui and Misses R. Tompkins and Haylock were admitted to hospital, suffering respectively from severe contusions to the chest and a broken collarbone. The others received minor injuries. . . When cycling to his work this afternoon at King’s box factory Frederick Styles, aged 16 years, collided with a motor-lorry at an intersection in the main street. He received severe head injuries and was removed to the Taumarunui public hospital.
