BIRTHDAY OF SCHOOL
CELEBRATIONS AT STRATFORD. SUCCESSFUL DAY AT S. MARY’S. In spite of unfavourable weather the 21th anniversary celebrations of S. Mary’s School, Stratford, began auspiciously on Saturday. At a luncheon at the school at 12.30 there were about 15 old pupils present, and a “bring and buy” in the afternoon attracted a splendid attendance of old girls and friends of the school. The afternoon’s activities were necessarily confined to indoors but were none the less successful. Those in charge of the stalls were: Ice cream, Misses W. Scott and J. Blackmore; general, Mrs. O. Davies, Misses M. Porritt, Pease, Q. Sinclair and J. Somerton; afternoon tea, Misses McMillan and Hoole. The teaching staff of the school also assisted. In the evening the well known threeact play “Milestones” was presented to a large and appreciative audience at the school by the dramatic class. Mrs. F. P. Uniacke was the producer. Those taking part were Misses Lucy Penn, Mavis Scott, Betty Barry, Alison Duffill, Shirley Savage, Margaret Burrell, Pat Masterton, Mary French, and Isobel and Marjorie Larcom.
