TEAM FROM TARANAKI

PROMISING CANDIDATES WAIKATO HUNT ENTRIES PROGRESS OF KINNOULL (By “Hurry On.”) The Wellington Racing Club’s meetings usually attract horses from Taranaki stables, and there should be a fair contingent present for the opening of the spring gathering at Trentham to-morrow. O. Cox will be there with Fersen, Lowenberg and Brilliancy, J. Brown with Notium, J. O’Neill with Chikara and L. Butler with Windsoreen. J. Fryer has two acceptors in Ruri and Ned Cuttie, but they may be regarded as doubtful starters. Fersen figures in both the Wellington and Wainui Handicaps, but will start in the former. Notium and Brilliancy are two-year-olds. The latter is not ready yet, but Notium showed a good deal of promise at Avondale. Lowenberg should do better at Trentham than he did at Ellerslie, where the right-handed going troubled him. Windsoreen has the pace, but has lately been out of luck at the barrier.

CONSISTENT PERFORMER

BODYLINE’S PROSPECTS

Though he has not raced for some time, 'Bodyline’s form this season has been so consistent that he must be entitled to respect in the Shorts Handicap at Trentham to-morrow. He is a good beginner with plenty of early pace and he should keep the top weights busy all the way. In addition he appears to be able to run the six furlongs right out at present. His three starts this season have resulted in 'three wins, and he may add to this record at Trentham. LIKELY THREE-YEAR-OLDS 1 KINNOULL AND SUPEREX A good deal of interest is being taken in the South Island in the meeting of the two three-year-olds Kinnoull and Superex in the Wainui Handicap at Trentham to-morrow. Kinnoull’s form so far has been better than that of his rival, his Dunedin Guineas win being achieved in an impressive fashion. Nevertheless Superex is steadily improving and is highly regarded in the south. The two horses are likely to oppose Heritage and company in the weight-for-age Harcourt Cup on the second day of the gathering. ENTERED FOR TWO EVENTS CAMBRIDGE STABLEMATES The stablematcs Astarth and Solomon, who carry the colours of Mr. L. S. Otorial apd the Bollard Memorial at the Waikato Hunt meeting. Under the circumstances it would seem likely that one of them will be scratched for one or the other of the events. The Members’ Memorial is run over a distance of a mile and a-quarter and Astarth, who is by Chief Ruler from the dam of Ammon Ra, appears to be the more likely to stay in the race. She certainly fin’'•bed strongly at the end of six furlongs at ■Ellerslie, when she beat Star Artist and Jonathan. x KINNOULL IN GOOD ORDER TRENTHAM PROSPECTS Kinnoull was paraded on the course during the latter halfi of the programme at Washdyke on Saturday, states the Press, and after the last race he was given a strong working gallop over seven furlongs. He has done well since the Dunedin meeting, and is confidently expected to be a formidable competitor at Trentham.
