OAONUI TENNIS CLUB

EXCELLENT FINANCIAL POSITION. The annual' meeting of the Oaonui Tennis Club was held last Friday. Mr. C. Leatherbarrow presided over a good attendance. Mr. A. McDougall complimented the club on the excellent state of the club’s finance, there being a credit balance of more than £4, after paying for new posts and wire netting. It was left to the management committee to arrange the top-dressing or painting of the courts. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. J. Malcolm; president, Mi'. R. O’Rorke; vice-presidetns, four; chairman, Mr. C. Leatherbarrow; secretary, Mr.' M. G. Quigley;' management committee, Messrs. L. A. Bosworth, M. S. Quigley, J. Bishop, C. Leatherbarrow and J. King, Mesdames M. S. Quigley, A. McDougall, L. A. Bosworth, and Misses H. and R. Mitchell and M. Roach. Subscriptions were left the same as last year’s: Men 15s, women 10s, junior 7s 6d. New members are to pay an entrance fee of 2s 6d. It was decided to again enter an A and a B team in the Moron Shield competition. Ladder rules were left the same as last season. General News.

A ping-pong tournament was held in the Oaonui hall on Monday in aid of the hall funds. Heavy rain affected the attendance. The women’s prize was won by Miss A. Coombe and the men’s prize by Master E. Mitchell. On Thursday afternoon Mrs. W. Pentelow, junr., entertained at her home in aid of the Methodist Church funds. Competitions and community singing led by Mrs. S. M. Coombe and Mrs. G.
