CONTROL OF GOLF

DOMINION COUNCIL MEETING. The monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association- was held at Wellington recently, when there were present: Sir Alexander Roberts ■ (chairman), Messrs. W. E. A. Gill, C. H. Andrews, H. Drake,. J. C. Peacock and G. O. Sutton (secretary). The Kohukohu Golf Club, Kohukohu, Hokianga, was elected a member of the association. A resignation from the Maxwell Golf Club, a small club near Wanganui, was recorded. . A sub-committee was appointed to select trophies for the amateur events, and it was reported that the Christchurch club had made all necessary arrangements regarding score boards at the championship meeting. . It was decided to make a grant of £iw to the funds for the New Zealand Ladies Golf Union. Further replies were received re interim and and interprovincial matches from clubs, and it was resolved to hold a special meeting of the council, when al replies will have been tabulated and proposals will be forn?ulated to place before the meeting of delegates. An unofficial letter was received by the secretary from Mr. Sloan Morpeth, and the opinion of the council was that there is very little chance of the Kirk Windeyer Cup match being arranged for this year. . The secretary reported that the Titirangi club had replied to the effect that, it would be quite willing to put on an exhibition match for the Australian professionals, who will be at Auckland, en route to America, some day early in November. Forthcoming tournaments notified were: Waipukurau men’s tournament, September 5, 6 and 7; Pembroke, September 6 and 7; Napier, September 10 and 13; Wairoa, September 21 to 23; Wanganui, October 3, 4 and 5; New Zealand championships, Christchurch, October 11 to 19; Titirangi, Labour Day tournament, October 19 to 21; Manawatu, October 26, . 23 and 29; Seafield (Wanganui), Octobey 26, 28 and 29.
