WIN OF OKATO THIS

BASKETBALL EVENT AT WAITARA. JUNIOR HONOURS TO RAHOTU. The camp reserve at Waitara pre--sented a gay scene on Thursday afternoon when 125 young women, met to take part in the basketball tournament. Six teams took part, in the senior grade for the Waitara Athletic, Cycle and Axemen’s Club’s challenge shield, which was held by the Convent Blues. The shield was won by Okato Tuis, which went through without a loss. In the junior division nine teams competed and the event was played in two sections. The A section was won by Rahotu and the B section by. Tataraimaika with four wins each. In the ■play-off Rahotu beat Tataraimaka by four goajs to three. This game was keenly fought out During the play-off Miss Lowry, Rahotu, received a knee injury , and had to retire and was replaced by Miss Kabul. At the conclusion of the play Mr-, T. Taylor, president of the Raleigh Basketball Club, presented the shield to the captain of the Okato team and the trophy: • . to the Rahotu team, and congratulated , " •the winners.
