Cambridge, Sept. 3, The second drowning fatality in three weeks occurred at Cambridge shortly before noon yesterday, when a young woman, Hilda Mercy Moorhouse, aged 23. daughter of Captain and Mrs. R. W. Moorhouse, was seen to jump from a high' level bridge and fall 130 feet into the Waikato River. The tragedy was witnessed by a number of relief workers oh the river bank. Every effort was made to rescue the girl. Two workers in a ganoe found the body caught in a snag, but in trying to lift the head above the water they overturned the canoe in the swirling current, and it was only with difficulty that they reached the bank. A relief worker, Mr. T. Collins, showed conspicuous courage.
The body was eventually secured by the police with the aid of ropes. The victim was a pretty brunette wearing a green cardigan and skirt and a yellow jumper.
