NO CHANGE INTENDED
COMPULSORY CONCILIATION. PRESENT SYSTEM WORKING WELL. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. No alteration in the present conciliation system of dealing with industrial disputes is contemplated at the moment by the Government. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forties, said to-day that no legislation would be introduced this session to restore compulsory arbitration.
The present system was working satisfactorily and the Government saw no reason for a change. Employers and employees had been able to reach agreements in most disputes and there were no longer any complaints about harassing restrictions imposed on industry by the court.
