DEATH OF MRS. KILGOUR. REACHED AGE OF NINETY-SIX. The death in her 36th year of Mrs. Ellen Kilgour occurred on Thursday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. Lockwood, Coronation Road, Mangere. Mrs. Kilgour arrived at Auckland with her parents in 1847 and remained in the Auckland district for the remainder of her life, states the New Zealand Herald. Soon after her marriage 76 years ago to Mr. John Kilgour, a saw-miller and pitsawer, Mrs. Kilgour accompanied her husband to carry out a timber contract at Kawhia. When that was completed they returned to Auckland and settled at Onehunga for a period. They next went to Huia, on/the Manukau Harbour, and they remained in the sawmilling camps in that locality until Mr. Kilgour’s death about 40 years ago. Since that time Mrs. Kilgour had lived in or neat Auckland City with various members of her family. Mrs. Kilgour was the head of five generations, and her descendants number approximately 300. Of her fourteen children seven daughters and four sons are alive.
