OHURA DISTRICT NEWS
PERSONAL AND GENERAL. Weather conditions in the Ohura Valley in August were alternations from fog and frost to heavy rain; 12.5 inches fell during 15 days, but the intervals between the storms enabled water to drain away and although the lower levels were flooded no serious damage occurred. There were numerous slips but they were generally cleared without hindering traffic to any great extent. The total rainfall for the three winter months was 30.61 in compared with 18.62 in in the corresponding period last year. The Oddfellows Lodge held its fortnightly dance on Friday night. The usual good crowd spent a bright evening. Mrs. Turnbull was hostess at afternoon tea in honour of her guest, Mrs. Jenks (Auckland), on Friday. Mrs. H. Craven entertained for Mrs. Jenks on Thursday.
Miss June Jenks (Auckland) is the guest of Mrs. Keith Thomas. Miss Allen (Tauranga) is the guest of Mrs. Wilkie, Tatu.
