£350,000,000 LOAN
ANNOUNCEMENT IN AMERICA. REPAYMENT OF LIBERTY BONDS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—CopyrightRec. 8.30 p.m. Washington, Sept. 2. A £350,000,000 financing operation, designed both to wipe out the last World War Liberty bonds and to raise new cash, is announced by the Treasury which has offered to trade new securities for £250,000,000 old debts, the final block of Liberty bonds which helped to finance the war. Mr. Henry Morgenthau, Secretary of the Treasury, has also asked from the public £100,000,000 in new money to build up the Treasury’s cash box. The Liberty bonds have been called for redemption on October 15, erasing from the Government records the last of about £5,000,000,000 war costs.
