MINOR PLACINGS TO TARANAKI. B. MURPHY AND MISS BEALE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The New Zealand ski championship meeting opened at Mount Cook to-day in perfect snow and weather conditions. Results were: — Dowrihill championship: -H. Wigley (Tasman Ski Club), 3m. 25 4-55., 1; M. Watson (Aorangi), 3m. 40 4-55., 2; A. Wigley (Tasman), 3m. 48s, 3; B. Murphy (Ruapehu), 4m. 18 2-55., 4. Murphy suffered two falls. Women’s downhill championship: Mrs. A. B. Edwards (Christchurch), 3m. 20 2-55., 1; Miss D. Wifkins (Christchurch), 4m. 15 4-55., 2; Miss J. Beale (Stratford), 4m. 29 2-55., 3; Miss 3. Brown (Christchurch), sm. 11 l-55., 4. The first three each had a fall and Miss Beale came down again 200 yards from the post when running second.
