IN EVENT OF WAR
NEW ZEALAND’S PROCEDURE. QUESTION ASKED IN HOUSE. x (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, last night. A definition of the procedure to be adopted by the Government should New Zealand become involved in war was sought by Mr. H. M. Rushworth (Country, Bay of Islands) in the House of Representatives to-night. Mr. Rushworth gave notice to ask the Prime Minister whether if. Great Britain entered a war the Government would cause Parliament to be assembled, if it were not already in session, to consider the matter of New Zealand’s participation before any irrevocable decision in that direction was taken.
If they desire it, members of the House of Representatives will have the opportunity to discuss the international situation during the Address-in-Reply debate, which was begun to-night. Whether they will take advantage of the opportunity is a matter of some interest, but it is not likely that any member of the Government will make any outspoken reference to a situation that has become increasingly delicate.
