FAIR TO FINE WEATHER
MILDER TEMPERATURES — / By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be unsettled in the northern and east coast districts of _ the North Island with rain in. places, some heavy falls being likely in the far north and some showers also in the Cook Strait area, says the 4 p.m. forecast. Elsewhere it will be mainly fair to fine. Temperatures will be cold with severe inland frosts in the South Island, but becoming milder in northern districts.. An anti-cyclone over New Zealand is centred off the east coast of the South Island. The pressure is low across the north. Tasman Sea and to the north of the Dominion. Winds will be moderate to strong south-easterly to easterly north of Westport and Kaikoura, reachirfg gale force in places, backing to north-easterly in the far north and elsewhere light and variable, but 'soon tending to northerly end later freshening. Seas in New Zealand waters will be rough on the east coast north of Kaikoura, but elsewhere moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea thertJ will be strong north-east winds and rough seas in the porthem portion and moderate but freshening northerly winds with moderate seas in the southern portion. ■
