RUGBY TRIAL MATCH

FOOTBALL AT STRATFORD TO-DAY. GUIDE FOR PROVINCIAL RJATCHESI The forerunner of a series of six representative matches for Taranaki A and B Rugby teams, a trial match will be played at Stratford this afternoon. Ths - teams selected a fortnight ago have suffered by the defection of four players in the running, owing to ■ injuries and work, but the fifteens to take the field are representative of the present strength of the A and B sides, on paper. C. Gudgeon (Patea), half for the B team, and P. Fasticr (Stratford), an A team forward, are unavailable owing to injuries, while H. Gardiner and F. Gargan (both Kaponga), A team forwards, are unable to get away for the match Several experiments are being tried by the selectors, notably the 3-3-2 scrum and the playing of L. Edwards (Patea) aS first five-eighth in the’ A team. Two new halves—for this season—in C. Brown and H. Boswell (Tukapa) will be tried, and there are two wingers who have not yet worn the black and amber jersey this season—G. Sullivan (Tukapa) and W. Rowlands (Patea).
