United States retained the Wightman Cup in the women's tennis match with England at Forest Hills. Details are:— Misses Jacobs and Palfrey-Fabyan (U.S.A.) defeated Misses Stammers and James, 6—3, 6—2. v Miss Arnold (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Stammers, 6—2, I—6, 6—3. Miss Palfrey-Fabyan (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Helen Mudford-King, 6—o, 6—3. Miss H. Jacobs (U.SA.) defeated Miss D. Round, 6—3, 6—2. Misses 'Dearman and Lyle (Britain) beat Miss Carolin Babcock and Mrs. Dorothy Andrus, 3—6, 6—4, 6—l. Miss K. Stammers (England) defeated Miss H. Jacobs (U.S.A.), 5—7, 6—l, 9—7. Miss D. Round (England) defeated Mrs. E. B. Arnold (UH.A.), 6-0, 6-3. MRS. MOODY NOT COMPETITOR. AMERICA NATIONAL TITLE, i Rec. 7.30 p.m. San Francisco, Aug. 17. Mrs. Helen Wills-Moody announced today that she will not play in the national championships at Forest Hills. The tournament at Wimbledon and the journey was an effort.
