CHANGE TO THE SOUTH
COLD WEATHER EXPECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be unsettled and squally, with rain in most districts and some heavy falls in areas with a westerly aspect, says the 4 p.m. forecast. Snow is likely on the ranges and thunder with hail in places. Temperatures will become -cold. Another, and apparently the last, of a series of intense westerly depressions was crossing New Zealand to-day. An extensive anti-cyclone is moving over Australia. Moderate to strong westerly winds are probable, still of gale force in many places, backing to south-westerly or southerly within the next 24 hours. Seas will be rough to high on the west coast and about Cook and Foveaux Straits and elsewhere rather rough to rough.
